FOLK CLOTHING FROM

KOKAVA NAD RIMAVICOU

Was the title of an exposition of folk clothing by my friend Gabriela Kubincova from near-by village Utekac. Exposition consisted from clothing collected in Kokava, pictures, museum artifacts, and instruments used in making the clothing. Kokava was industrial town from the end of 18th century and guest workers from Germany, Sliezia and Czech lands used to live here. In early days there was an exchange of traditional folk costume for "city clothing" for women and men-dresses and suits, etc. That was the reason that Gabriela wasn’t able to find a complete woman folk dress at all. The aim of the exposition was to compare the collected folk dresses with the designs of "Kokava's folk costumes" made for folk dance groups SLUK, Lipa, Partizan and others. The difference obvious to every visitor was tremendous. I hope that every visitor to this exposition was able to imagine clear picture about Kokava's folk dress in 20th century.
